The artist and his depth #1

Kanye West

Runaway is a 2010 American musical short film directed by Kanye West.[1]

It serves as the music video for a compilation of songs from West’s album, My BeautifulDark Twisted Fantasy. It is inspired by other music-related films such as Purple Rain, Pink Floyd The Wall and Michael Jackson’s Thriller and painters Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Directors Federico Fellini and Stanley Kubrick as well as fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld are also direct inspirations. The film depicts a romantic relationship between a man and a half-woman, half-phoenix, and is set to music by Kanye West from his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010).

Runaway was filmed in Prague over the period of four days in the summer of 2010. The script was written by Hype Williams, while the story was written by West. Vanessa Beecroft served as the art director with Jonathan Lia producing.

The music video was praised by Entertainment Weeklys Ken Tucker, calling it “a carefully modulated art-film made by a man on a mission”, noting the usage of dominant colors as well as the imagery in the film. Jozen Cummings of The Wall Street Journal described the video as “a cross between an epic music video and a charming indie-house flick”, stating that the greatest achievement of the video was how it “brought West’s music to life”.

The video was nominated for Video of the Year at the BET Awards of 2011, and West was nominated for Director of the Year.   -Wiki

West has called the video a “moving painting”. Brambilla mused about the video that “it’s kind of apocalyptic, in a very personal way,” and that “it’s a very exaggerated hyper-sensational version of what the song is saying.”  The video is much shorter than the actual song, lasting less than two minutes and only covering the first verse. It was later revealed that the 103-second video, which invokes cultural references from the Renaissance period to Greek mythology, is a teaser for a longer clip, though the full-length version of the video never surfaced. One of the reasons proposed why the full version never was released was because “Power” was also used during Runaway, a 35-minute music video directed by West set to music from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

MTV Buzzworthy’s Chris Ryan gave a positive review of the video, stating that it “marks a change in the way we look at music videos as a medium — it’s less a music video, more a modern art montage with a heavy dose of ancient Egyptian imagery and possible references to Michelangelo‘s “The Creation of Adam” (with a fair Kanye-esque helping of chesty females). In it, Kanye West ironically builds an unattainable artistic empire fit for a king (or pharaoh), while condemning the role power plays in our lives. So much to think about.” -Wiki

“Watch the Throne” Was hun nieuwe baby.

The album produced seven singles, including “H•A•M“, “Otis“, “Lift Off“, “No Church in the Wild“, and the Billboard Hot 100 top five “Niggas in Paris“, which all received music videos. Jay-Z and West promoted the album with the Watch the Throne Tour that spanned October 2011 to June 2012 and became the second highest grossing hip-hop concert tour in history, after Drake‘s and Future‘s Summer Sixteen Tour. Watch the Throne debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 436,000 copies its first week. While some critics found the album’s lyrical content uninspiring, its production and the rappers’ performances were highly praised. Many critics and publications placed the album in their year-end best-of lists. It also earned Jay-Z and West seven Grammy Award nominations. The album is certified platinum in the US.         – Wiki

Yeezus has been characterized as West’s most experimental and sonically abrasive work. It draws from an array of genres, including industrial, acid house, electro, dancehall, punk, and Chicago drill. It also continues West’s unconventional use of samples, as on “Blood on the Leaves,” which prominently interpolates Nina Simone‘s 1965 rendition of “Strange Fruit“. The release features no album artwork, and the physical CD edition of the album was released in a clear jewel box with only a strip of red tape and sample credits. Initial promotion of Yeezus included worldwide video projections of the album’s music and live television performances. West released two singles from the album, the song “Black Skinhead” in July 2013 and “Bound 2” the following month.

For five months leading up to the single’s announcement, West worked on a music video for “Black Skinhead” with photographer Nick Knight.

“Black Skinhead” received universal acclaim from critics, many of whom cited it as one of the best songs on Yeezus. Ray Rahman of Entertainment Weekly cited “Black Skinhead” as one of the album’s best songs, describing it as “a galloping punk-rap manifesto” Rolling Stone named “Black Skinhead” the third best song of 2013 saying, “‘Ye rapping rabid over an industrial glitter-rock stomp pumped with heavy breathing and Tarzan screams. Next time someone says America is post-race, play ’em this, and watch their head explode.” NME named the song the tenth best song of 2013 saying, “”Black Skinhead” was a microcosm of why that’s the case: three breathless and almost-punk minutes that covered the central complexes – ego, messiah and persecution – of his dark and twisted psyche.”

“Black Skinhead” was featured in the 2016 film Suicide Squad, in a scene that features Floyd Lawton/Deadshot in Belle Reve.   -Wiki

Bound 2

On November 16, 2013, it was revealed that West would be premiering the music video for “Bound 2” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show the following week. The Nick Knight-directed music video was released on November 19, 2013. The video features his then-fiancée Kim Kardashian, topless, riding atop West’s motorbike through Monument Valley and other landscapes. Eric Diep of XXL described it as, “a confident display of love and passion with little to no narrative.” Spin felt that “a pretty bad idea seen through so completely that it stops being a bad idea”.  Tom Breihan from Stereogum found the video confusing, saying “it’ll take a little bit to figure out what all’s going on there”. Lanre Bakare of The Guardian described it as “self-indulgent, idiosyncratic and a bit weird”.

On November 25, 2013, “Bound 3”, a parody of the music video was released, starring actors James Franco and Seth Rogen. The parody is a shot-for-shot remake, filmed while they were shooting their movie The Interview. Afterwards, Kim Kardashian revealed through Twitter that she and West found the video to be very funny. On December 11, 2013, the music video was parodied in the South Park episode “The Hobbit“, where West is shown trying to convince the world that Kardashian is not a hobbit. On December 21, 2013, the video was parodied on Saturday Night Live, with cast members portraying the couple having sex while riding a red-nosed reindeer.  -Wiki

why can’t you guys see the beauty in the simplicity of this video. the focus is the love between kanye and Kim not amazing cgi and location.
You know, once you get past the infamy of Kim and Kanye and move past the pretentiousness of their image, all this video consists of is two people in love. At the end of the day, they’re just two humans in love and who am I to be mad at that?
Am I the only one that loves this video???

Famous” is a song by American rapper Kanye West. It serves as the lead single from his seventh studio album The Life of Pablo (2016). The song features vocals from Barbadian singer Rihanna and ad-libs from American hip hop artist Swizz Beatz, and enlists samples of Jamaican singer Sister Nancy, American singer Nina Simone and Italian band Il Rovescio Della Medaglia. The single was serviced to US urban and rhythmic radio stations on April 1, 2016.

Upon its release, “Famous” met with scrutiny for a controversial lyrical reference to American singer Taylor Swift, partially in relation to West’s interruption of her 2009 VMA acceptance speech. After West claimed to have obtained Swift’s approval over the criticized lyric, Swift denied the claim, criticizing West and denouncing the lyric as “misogynistic” in a statement. Several months later, West’s wife Kim Kardashian released a video capturing a conversation between Swift and West in which Swift appears to approve the lyric.

In June 2016, West released a music video for “Famous” depicting West, Swift, Kardashian, former president George W. Bush, Donald Trump, Anna Wintour, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Ray J, Amber Rose, Caitlyn Jenner, and Bill Cosby all sleeping nude in a shared bed. It was released to a polarized response. The wax figures used in the video were later exhibited as a sculpture. The song has been nominated in the Rap/Sung Performance and Rap Song category at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

“This is definitely one of the most incredible campaigns I’ve ever done. When I saw Kanye singing, Kim moving, the models walking and crying, the tears on Kanye, the tears on Kim—I was just like, ‘Wow,’ ” Thus spake Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, who has raised the bar on his seasonal campaigns since taking the reins of the French house in 2011.

Balmain has partnered with Kanye West to produce a music video for West’s The Life of Pablo track “Wolves,” which doubles as the brand’s campaign. Directed by Steven Klein and art directed by Pascal Dangin of KiDS Creative, the video was shot in New York City and stars West, his wife, Kim Kardashian West, and a slew of Rousteing’s favorite models: Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jon Kortajarena, Ysaunny Brito, Josephine Skriver, Chico Lachowski, Jordan Barrett, Ronald Epps, Sasha Luss, Riley Montana, and Dilone.- Vogue
